Welcome to SlideTranslate. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application that translates Google Slides presentations into multiple languages.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Password (encrypted)
  • Account creation date

2.2 Google Account Data

When you connect your Google account, we receive and store:

  • OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens (to access your Google Drive)
  • Basic profile information from your Google account

2.3 Presentation Data

When you use our translation service:

  • We only access presentations that you explicitly select using Google's file picker
  • We do not have access to browse or list files in your Google Drive
  • We access the text content of your selected Google Slides presentations
  • We store metadata about your projects (presentation ID, name, languages)
  • We create translated copies in your Google Drive

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

  • Browser type and version
  • Access times and dates
  • Pages viewed within our service

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide our translation services and create translated presentations
  • Authenticate your identity and maintain your account
  • Access your Google Drive to read source presentations and save translations
  • Improve and optimize our service
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Send administrative communications about the service

4. Google API Services Disclosure

SlideTranslate's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

  • We use restricted scopes - we can only access files you explicitly select via Google Picker
  • We cannot browse, list, or access other files in your Google Drive
  • We do not use your Google data for advertising purposes
  • We do not sell your Google data to third parties
  • We only share Google data with Google Cloud Translation API for the purpose of translation
  • You can revoke our access to your Google account at any time through Settings

5. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
  • Google OAuth tokens are stored securely and encrypted at rest
  • We use Supabase for secure data storage with row-level security
  • Our application is hosted on Google Cloud Run with enterprise-grade security

We do not permanently store the full content of your presentations. Text content is only processed in memory during translation and is not retained after the translation is complete.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Cloud Translation API: To translate text content
  • Google Drive API: To access and create presentations
  • Google Slides API: To read and modify slide content
  • Supabase: For authentication and database services

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of data.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers who assist in operating our service (as listed above)
  • If required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice)

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:

  • Account information is retained until you delete your account
  • Project metadata is retained until you delete the project or account
  • Google tokens are retained until you disconnect Google Drive or delete your account

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct your information
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Revocation: Disconnect Google Drive access at any time
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format

10. Children's Privacy

SlideTranslate is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
